Ring Fusion vs Basic (Ambient) HDR

Basic (Ambient Light) HDR

This photo has several different light sources causing discoloration to everything in the room.  This is especially noticeable on the walls and ceiling around the table lamps that have two different color light bulbs (pink and yellow), and daylight (blue) coming through the windows.

Ring Fusion (Color Balanced)

By using a powerful flash, I’m able to capture the colors accurately because I know the color of my flash (5600 Kelvin).  I then combine the flash photo with the ambient HDR photo to produce the Flambient photo.  For more details, read below.

Fusion Explained

Fusion  (AKA “Flambient”) photography is an advanced method of Real Estate photography that combines flash photos with high dynamic range (HDR) photos using ambient (existing) light.

While fusion photography is relatively well known among professional Real Estate photographers, it is rarely used by real estate photography agencies, or discount photographers.

It’s important to note that the purpose of this method is to show the room as it is naturally perceived by the human eye.  When in the room, your mind naturally compensates for different types of lighting and brightness which a normal (ambient light) photo can not do.  These adjustments don’t happen when looking at a photo.

On this page I’ll explain this method and touch on the special technique (“ring” fusion) that I developed to improve quality and reduce processing time (and cost).
